Every cut suffered by our skin results in a scar, which is simply the mechanism we have available to close the cut. The cicatrization processoccurs due to the production of a tissue which "welds" both edges of the wound. Unfortunately, it is impossible that this "welding" be exactly identical to the skin; this results in healing tissue different from the skin in colour, texture and elasticity.
The individual process of healing in unpredictable, even if the patient has undergone surgeries previously; there is no way to foretell certainly, if the scar will have the same process of evolution. Manyfactors can influence the healing process, such as the size and profundity of the wound, location, thickness, skin colour and scar direction.
Scar correction plastic surgery is advisable for people who want to remove a scar which disturbs regarding aesthetics, pain or itchiness.

There are many types of scar, which, depending on the location, may have an undesirable aspect, but there is the possibility of correction through plastic surgery. However, some scars, due to location or other characteristics can be improved only slightly.
Normal scar (normotrophic): This is the scars that looks like a line made by a pen. In this kind of scar, the skin acquires the aspects and texture previous to the trauma.
Widened scar (atrophic): When the scar is similar to a furrow, which is formed due to excess of skin movement during the healing process.
Hypertrophic scars: The scar is similar to a thick guitar string, which means over cicatrization, but at a moderate level. Hypertrophic scars remains within the limits of the original incision or wound, differently from keloids.
Keloid scars: This >scar is similar to hardened and high lumps, which correspond to an excess of healing tissue which starts on the sides and at the cut´s spot.
Hypertrophic as well as keloid scars mean a healing excess, and may be corrected through plastic surgery, followed by beta-therapy (treatment which acts as an inhibiter of the healing process).
Both kinds of healing (keloid and hypertrophic), show that the patient has good healing, however, aesthetically, the result of this healing is not pleasant.

There are many surgical techniques which may be used to improve the aspect of a scar, offering more comfort and self-confidence to the patient. Careful analysis of each case is necessary to find the best solution, always taking into consideration that is impossible to eliminate an existing scar completely.
Local factors: These are those connected to the wound. They may influence healing in the following aspects: dimension and profundity of the lesion, the degree of contamination and secretions present.
Systemic factors:These are connected to the patient - age, nutritional condition, chronic diseases, use of medicines, inadequate topic treatment.

Nose correction plastic surgery rarely has complications, however, the commonest are: excessive bleeding, reaction to anesthesia, or the return of a scar which is not very aesthetic..
